moat part of a castle

Jason
Moat

A moat is a deep, broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, that is dug and surrounds a castle, fortification, building or town, historically to provide it with a preliminary line of defence. In some places, moats evolved into more extensive water defences, including natural or artificial lakes, dams and sluices. In older fortifications, such as hillforts, they are usually referred to simply as ditches, although the function is similar. In later periods, moats or water defences may be largely ornamental. They could also act as a sewer.

My trip to Tauranga

My trip to Tauranga

Last Friday my dad and I went to Tauranga. We drove to Tauranga from Auckland, it was a three-hour drive.

It is now the end of my holiday and I will continue my story on the first night.  It was very late so my dad and I went to Cob and Co for dinner, it was the best dinner ever. I had a cheeseburger and a traffic light drink and for dessert, I had the caterpillar. It had cherries for eyes which I thought was cool. After I played on the PS4 and had a few turns, then we went to the Aquarius motel and went to bed.

The next day (which was Saturday) we climbed up to the top of Mount Maunganui. It took half an hour to get up so it took an hour in total. After we went to a historical village, it was very small ( small as Coromandel ) and we stayed for little time. After we went to the hot pools, we probably spent most of the time in the hot pools. Later that day and we got pizza for dinner, I saved 2 pieces for the morning then went to bed.

On Sunday we went for breakfast then went back to the historical village again because of the fair then we went back to Auckland.

And that my friend is my historical trip to Tauranga.

This is the room we stayed in ( room 14)
